Description of the Burnside Desktop Mobile

The Burnside Desktop Mobile is a fixed cellular terminal that lets you use an ordinary phone to access the mobile network. Even though you may own a handheld mobile phone, you probably prefer using your landline phone when you are in the office. The problem is that calls from a landline to mobiles can be expensive! By connecting the Desktop Mobile (with an appropriate SIM card) to an ordinary phone you can cut the cost of those calls.

With the Burnside Desktop Mobile you can make and receive calls; also send and receive text messages. You can connect it to your computer to browse the Internet, access your email and send PC faxes.

Unlike a handheld mobile phone the Desktop Mobile provides a fixed, permanent and accessible resource that can be shared between any work group at any location.

The Desktop Mobile also provides an immediate backup for your telecommunications if, for any reason, your landline fails.

If you don't have access to landlines then the Desktop Mobile provides you with a complete communications terminal within any appropriate mobile network.

Models T910 and T930 also have a landline port. Calls to mobiles are automatically routed via the SIM card and calls to landline numbers are routed via the PSTN.

The front panel LCD shows incoming CLI and caller's name (if previously stored). Mobile-style menus give access to the Desktop Mobile's features.

Setting up the Burnside Desktop Mobile

Set up involves just a few simple steps.

• Insert a suitable SIM, for example one on the same network and tariff as you use in your handheld mobile(s).
• Connect the antenna supplied.
• Connect any kind of touch tone phone.
• Finally connect to the mains power supply using the supplied adapter or connect to a DC supply such as is available in a car or boat.

The Desktop Mobile is then ready for use. Just lift the phone's handset and dial to make a call. Use the keypad on the phone with the Desktop Mobile's display to access its features via the menu system.
