Description of the Plantronics C65

The Plantronics C65 headset is a DECT/GAP-compatible device that can be registered to any DECT/GAP base station. It features high quality digital audio in a light, stylish and comfortable package. Calls are answered and terminated with the press of a button. A second control provides earpiece volume adjustment and microphone muting.

The C65 is supplied with a charger base and two wearing style options: over-the-ear (three sizes of clip supplied) and adjustable headband. A neckband is available as an extra-cost option.

The C65 is ideally suited to any environment that benefits from hands-free convenience, cordless freedom and receives a high volume of incoming calls. Its noise-cancelling microphone makes it suitable for use in noisy environments.

The C65 does not have a dial pad so outgoing calls cannot be dialled directly from this headset. An outbound call can be set up by dialling from a handset then transferring the call to the headset. If calls are dialled by computer then they can be picked up by the C65 just as they are with a handset.

Example applications of the Plantronics C65

1. Warehouse. The single line DECT system has one handset and three C65s registered with the base station. The supervisor uses the handset and the operatives wear C65 headsets. When the phone rings the supervisor (or any of the operatives) can answer the call. The supervisor is able to put the call through to an appropriate operative. The supervisor can also make internal calls to any of the operatives.

2. Fast food outlet. Wearing C65 headsets, staff are able to respond more quickly and efficiently to calls from customers placing orders. Whichever staff member is best placed to take the call can do so. Customer service is thus improved and business not lost to competitors.

Requirements and Recommendations

• An existing DECT phone system which is GAP-compatible (GAP = Generic Access Protocol);
• The DECT phone system must have spare capacity for the C65(s) to be registered;
• The instruction manual for your DECT base station;
• If your DECT base station has had its security code changed from the default "0000" you will need to know what the current security code is, and how to change it.
• Standard 13A mains power socket.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I register (pair or subscribe) the C65 with my DECT base station?
A. First, if a security code (PIN) has been set at your base station, reset it to 0000. Then put your base station into registration mode (refer to its instruction manual) typically by holding the "Page" button for 10 seconds. Next press and hold the Mute button on the C65 until its Online LED illuminates. Registration is then complete and you should make test calls.
Set the base station security code again if required.

Q. Can I pick up calls on either the headset or the handset?
A. Yes, it's a case of first come, first served. The call is routed to whichever device is first activated by a user pressing the Answer button.
