Introduction

The LineShare 5000 and CallSign 200 switches are designed for the UK telecoms market which is characterised by:

So these are the considerations you will have to take into account to determine whether these products will be suitable for use in any non-UK location.

Power supply requirements

The LS5000 and CS200 units are supplied with wired-in plug-top transformers. These transformers are custom built to deliver several specific voltages to the active units so must not be removed.

They must be connected to a 220V to 240V AC power supply. Therefore, if your local utility power company delivers a different voltage you must provide a transformer to deliver 220-240V. We do not currently supply such a device.

You can check a country's power plug type and mains voltage at the Electricity Around the World web site. The UK-style power plug is listed as type "G" on this page.

If your country's voltage is OK but the power plug is different, we can supply adapters for most types of power outlet. They are available in the Online Catalog in the International Power Adapters section.

Telephony standards and compatibility

Our telephony products are fitted with BT-standard plugs and sockets unless otherwise stated. These are easily converted to RJ11 and other international connector types, just order the adapters you require from the Online Catalog, Telephone Adapters and Accessories section.

To locate the adapter for a specific country, just visit the International Modem Adapters section of our Catalog and use your browser's Find command (press Ctrl-F in Internet Explorer) to search for the name of the country.

Apart from connector type, certain other telephony standards may differ from country to country:

CLI: there are technical differences between the BT system used in the UK (except for Telewest subscribers) and the Bell standard system used in the US and elsewhere.

The following countries are understood to match the UK specification as regards Power Plug, Voltage and BT telephone connectors: Bahrain, Botswana, Gibraltar, Ireland, Malta, St Vincent, Tanzania.

The LS5000 is known to work correctly in the Irish Republic. You will need to obtain BT-RJ11 adapters: one plug adapter and two, three or four socket adapters (depending on how many devices you will want to connect to the LS5000. These are available in our Online Catalog.
